Rainy Day Fun: Summer in Scotland

Summer Activities for the Kids

We hope you're enjoying the school holidays, even if the Scottish weather isn't quite cooperating. At Cove, we understand that keeping the wee ones entertained indoors can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. That's why we've put together a list of fun activities to brighten up those rainy summer days that just seem to keep coming!

Colouring and Activity Books: A World of Imagination

There's nothing quite like a fresh colouring book to spark creativity (whether you're a kid or an adult!). Our selection of colouring and activity books can transport your children to magical worlds, teach them about nature, or simply provide hours of quiet entertainment. I love the Jungle colouring book we have in the shop - lots of activities, loads of colouring and for those super fancy colouring results the pages are perforated so they can be pulled out neatly and displayed on the fridge!

Origami: Fold Your Way to Fun

Origami is a fantastic way to develop patience and fine motor skills and if you've never tried it you should - it's amazing what you can create with a piece of paper and a lot of folding. Our origami kits come with colourful papers and easy-to-follow instructions. Before you know it, your living room will be filled with loads of beautiful and colourful animals. This really is an activity where you can't let the kids have all the fun!

Jigsaw Puzzles: Piece Together Some Family Time

Rainy days are perfect for tackling a jigsaw puzzle. It's a great way to give your mind a bit of a breather too. When you're doing a jigsaw it's hard to think about anything else. It's also a great way to bond with your younger children and super good for their little brains too. We've got such a cute jigsaw in the shop - Mouse in a house. 100 pieces so a good challenge for a wee one and something to keep them busy for a rain shower or two!

Memory Games: Train Those Brain Cells

Keep those minds sharp in the summer holidays with a memory game. These are not only fun but also help improve concentration and cognitive skills so you can go all out parent mode - fun yet educational!

Dice Games: Roll into Adventure

Dice games offer endless possibilities for entertainment and again they are fun for all ages - the only constraint is your imagination! We've got a couple but my favourite is the Fairytale Dice Game - perfect for making up your own outlandish and exciting fairy tales where anything can happen!

Remember, these activities aren't just for rainy days. They're perfect for those quiet evenings or lazy Sunday afternoons too. Why not pop into Cove on the High Street to browse our full range of products and gifts. We're always happy to help you find the perfect activity for your family.

And for those days when the sun does decide to make an appearance, take your activities with you down the beach for an afternoon of fun and lounging on the sand!

Stay dry, have fun, and have a jolly summer!
